Opportunity to network with senior colleagues

Dear Colleagues,

Besides being scientific events, congresses are at the same time social gatherings. This social content also serves valuable opportunites to our younger colleagues for their education. With the help of the senior colleagues they meet at the congresses, our colleagues who are just at the beginning of their
professional careers, may improve and broaden their horizons by working at different instituions and with different people. I advise our younger colleagues to consider the congresses from this point of view. TUSYAD 2014 Congress might be an important opportunity for our colleagues who have special
interest in sports injuries, arthroscopy and knee surgery.

I am certain that Philippe Neyret (France), the Vice President of International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) will be very willing both to help you to work at an institution and to take part in ISAKOS Committees. He is going to be the president of the society in 2015 – 2017 period.

I would like to encourage you by reminding the importance of working in the executive bodies of International Associations. Turkish colleagues working in high level committees of these associations from whom you may ask for help will be present at the TUSYAD Congress, too. Please introduce
yourselves to them and seek for guidance and help.

European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Artroscopy (ESSKA) is granting a large number of scholarships. Obtaining these scholarships are much easier than you might guess, as long as you wish for it and manifest your interest. The communication which you will start in Izmir with Philippe Neyret and Michael Hantes (Greece) may open new horizons to you.

In the recent years, crucial developments are taking place about our branch in the Asia Pacific Region. This region is really worth to discover. It might be very useful for you to meet Mitsuo Ochi-president of Asia Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS). Again, I would like to remind you how important it might be to meet the epic Konsei Shino from Japan.

It might also be an important opportunity for your education to meet Philipp Lobenhoffer, one of the former Presidents of Arthroscopic Association of German Speaking Countries (AGA) and Roland Becker, the President of the same association.I would like to encourage you by reminding that Dr. Ersin Kuyucu obtained the AGA scholarship last year. Roland Becker is also highly active within ESSKA.

You may get the chance to work together with Lars Engebretsen in Norway who won general approval by his scientific identity and with Great Teacher Charles Brown in the USA. It should surely be very appealing to get a chance to work with David Dejour at the prestigous Patellofemoral Surgery Center in Lyon.

Besides the valuable scientific exchange among both domestic and international colleagues, I wanted to project another point of view to the TUSYAD 2014 Congress at which you will be presenting your studies, too.

Please bear in mind that the deadline for submitting abstracts is May 15, 2014.
We are looking forward to meet you in Izmir on 23 – 27 September.

With best regards,
Dr. Halit Pınar / President of TUSYAD Executive Committee
